Serengeti Expeditions (SE) was founded in 2004 with a goal to provide personal and organic safari experiences to East Africa. The founder and principal of Serengeti Expeditions, Godwin Selembo, was born and raised in Tanzania. He came to the US as a 17-year-old teenager, so he has a good command of both cultures. His knowledge, experience and local relationships in Tanzania are crucial and beneficial asset when planning these once in a lifetime excursions.
In addition to providing our customers with once in a lifetime experiences, as a company, we also feel that we have an obligation and a responsibility to the local population.
For this reason, we have dedicated a good portion of our profits and resources to help to educate the children of Sakila and surrounding villages located in the foothills of Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro. This is done through the help we provide to the local schools, of which I am co-founder and currently function as the Managing Director.
With a combined total of nearly 1200 students, these schools (Discovery Preschool, Sluys/Anderson Primary School, Hebron Secondary School and Hebron High School) are in constant need of financial assistance as they continue to grow.
